Richmond Auto Exchange specializes in affordable honest used cars in the Richmond VA area. Most of our used car inventory will need some repair work but we make a good-faith effort to list known issues.
Honesty
Richmond Auto Exchange is a small independent used car dealer in South Richmond, Virginia. We rarely have more than 30 vehicles for sale but each one will always be unique. A used car dealer selling cheap crappy cars is nothing new. What is unique here is the honesty we bring to the table. Our team makes a point to identify as many of the issues as possible creating a detailed list. Richmond Auto Exchange has earned a reputation for being honest and for this reason, we have a lot of regulars that buy from us monthly and even weekly.
Humor
Why stop at honesty and not take it a step further? Many of the cheap used cars for sale on our lot have stereotypical if not ironic issues. Nissan Altimas with front-end damage, Dodge Trucks with bad transmissions, sketchy old vans that smell like bum fights. All of these put the potential for comedy gold on the table and we make a point to eat it up like an ungarded chocolate cake at fat camp. In addition to our reputation for behind honest about or delightfully trashy used cars, we are equally well known for our humorous ads where we highlight the cream of the crap for sale in Richmond.
Ugly Cars
We are often asked what the deal is with “Ugly Cars” and it’s pretty simple. It’s no secret that RVA Auto X is affiliated with several cash-for-junk-cars places as well as salvage yards. Ugly Cars is a place where all of these things come together under one brand, now with a national reach! Through partnerships, franchises, and affiliate marketing Ugly Cars connects those wanting to sell ugly cars with others willing to buy them. Richmond Auto Exchange just happens to be where it all started.
We are the curators of crap, the peddlers of problematic piles of junk. For the foreseeable future, we will be here 3 days a week to offer up the cream of the crappy used cars in RVA. If you have low expectations we have the low prices you are looking for. But wait, before you smash that “Is this still available?” button or show up at the lot, let’s get a few popular questions answered for you.
Question: Is your website up to date? Are all the vehicles listed available for sale?
Answer: Yes. If a vehicle is listed on our website, it is available for sale. We update vehicle statuses as soon as they sell, so if the listing is still active, the vehicle is still available. You can also check the red Vehicle Status on each listing for the most current information.
Question: Do your vehicles come with a title?
Answer: Yes. We have a title for every vehicle we sell, and it is properly titled in our business’s name and ready to be transferred to yours.
Question: Can I get an open title?
Answer: No. All titles are transferred directly into the buyer’s name. If you’re purchasing a vehicle for someone else, they must be present with a valid photo ID.
Question: Are you negotiable on price?
Answer: Yes. We are always open to reasonable negotiations, but those conversations take place in person after you’ve had a chance to see the vehicle. We price our vehicles at the amount we intend to sell them for, and prices are periodically reduced if a vehicle remains unsold. To keep things fair for everyone, we do not negotiate by phone, email, text, or social media. All vehicles are sold on a first-come, first-served basis, and we do not accept holds or deposits. If you’re hoping to purchase a vehicle for less than the current asking price, you’re welcome to visit us and discuss it in person, or you can wait for future price reductions, understanding that another buyer may purchase the vehicle first.
Question: Will you hold a vehicle for me?
Answer: No. We do not hold vehicles, with or without a deposit. Vehicles are sold on a first-come, first-served basis.
Question: Do you offer financing?
Answer: No. We do not offer financing. All vehicle sales are cash, certified funds, or other approved payment methods accepted at the time of purchase.
Question: Can you deliver the vehicle?
Answer: No. We do not offer vehicle delivery. However, we are happy to provide contact information for several local towing and transport companies.
Question: Will you show me a vehicle after hours or on the weekend?
Answer: No. Our viewing hours are limited to our regular business hours. Like most people, we value our time with family and friends, and evenings and weekends are reserved for them. We appreciate your understanding.
Question: I live far away. Will you hold the vehicle, meet me after hours, or adjust the price to help cover transportation costs?
Answer: No. We treat all customers equally regardless of where they live. Unfortunately, distance does not qualify for exceptions to our policies regarding vehicle holds, pricing, appointments, or business hours.
Richmond Auto Exchange is located at the corner of Castlewood Rd & Dale Ave in Richmond VA. The gate entrance is on Dale and we ask that you please street park on Dale ave and walk in the gate instead of attempting to drive inside. Our sales office is located at the FRONT of the building facing Castlewood Rd.

Amanda works in the purchasing department making sure we are fully stocked with the cream of the crap.
Roscoe
Roscoe works in the advertising end of things and if you see him at the lot he will probably pretend not to work here.
If, after reading all of that, you think one of us is still worth talking to, come on by. The lot is open on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays @ 4404 Castlewood Rd, Richmond, VA, 23234 from 10-6. Check out crappy cars, talk smack, and trade memes. However, if you show up right at lunchtime, it will have a negative impact on negotiations. We specialize in vehicles that have a few dents, scratches, and or mechanical problems. We will be as upfront as possible and tell you about any problems we know about, and this knowledge can save you money, but when you buy from us, plan for it to have a rejection sticker and to need a tow to get it home safely.
